Prepared for Turkey Day: who will feed the crits?
John and I talked about it after he was gone. It takes character to admit there is a problem and you need help. Roger was not able to come to me and say, "Hey, I am going to be laid up for 6 weeks and I will need to make my time up... can we make a plan?" Instead he was trying to sneak by, lay on the couch for 6 weeks and think I wouldn't notice. Lying by omission is still deception.
Well, it might be cold living in a truck, but hey, if you can't talk nicely to the people who own the couch you want to inhabit, well, trucks are a handy alternative. Meanwhile I have figured out how to manage feeding my horses when I have to be gone.
I arranged to have Lylbun the electrician come down and stay over Thanksgiving, so come Wednesday, John and I will head down to Socorro for the turkey fest. On my waitress days, I can feed at 4:45 a.m. and then again at 8:30 p.m. They'll live.
The weather in NW New Mexico has been fabulous this last week. John and I saddled the mules and went riding on Sunday. We rode to a new side canyon but quickly got boxed out when we tried to ride along the higher ground. Next time we go, we know we have to stay in the bottom of the wash for the first half mile. Cracker Joe, the little hotrod, was doing great until he decided to try out some bucking maneuver when I insisted on walking on the way home. I managed to hold on and it was all over about about 100 yards down and across a deep dip. There is a reason I like my personal protective equipment!
Let me know what your plans for Turkey Day are...
