I have found some very good links to the issue of Women's Self-Defense. I will continue to surf the web and when I find some more I will update my list.

Powerful Choices, the fantastic group that I worked with in Seattle does not have a web site, and they are no longer teaching the full force self-defense classes. However last I knew Judith was still teaching the concepts and boundary setting skills to teenagers in local workshops in the Seattle area.

While she was running Powerful Choices Judith was concerned wth the ongoing genocide and systematic rape of women and childern in the former Yugoslavia. While this is such a huge issue that many of us would just turn our heads and say " There is nothing I can do." Judith decided there was something she could do. She created the "I am your witness" campaign. Rasing money to be sent to the women that survived the rape camps. They have raised over $50,000 and delivered it to the camps. She has been to the camps and taught workshops there. The Witness Campaign was involved in the historic Geneva Convention's decision to list rape as a war crime. That is a huge change.

Now that there is a "working peace" in that area the need for fund raising has not diminished, if anything it has increased. The stories and attrocities that I personally know of are the stuff that is beyond nightmares, it is a living and dying hell on earth. These women need to know that people outside their area know what happened and are willing to help them. Please do what you can to support the witness campaign. The money raised goes directly to survivor's, it does not go to organizations that waste the money.
