Grandmaster Won Ik Yi has returned to the U.S. and just moved
back to Austin Texas. The Grand Opening of the new Tukong Moosul Headquarters
was September 4th 1999. The new address is 12200 Research Blvd Austin TX 78759 (512) 336-5425
Grandmaster Yi is offering training to all levels of students, from beginners to extremely
advanced. I am quite sure of the level of training offered there ~ The Best!
If you are in the Austin area this is one school I would strongly encourage you to check out. Call Grandmaster Yi for current information.
Currently Grandmaster Yi is asssisted mainly by Ali Brown a Third Degree Black Belt. I started training wtih Ali when he was a nine year old. Now at 6 feet and a solid 175 pounds I keep hoping he forgot about the time I thrashed him on the floor. Just joking. Ali has turned into a fine young man and I know he is a very competent instructor. It has been great to reconnect with Ali and see his evolution.
Master Cotton Hayes runs a very fine school in Odessa Texas. Master Hayes has been teaching various martial arts for over 25 years. He was the first person outside of Korea to be certified as a Master in Tukong Moosul. His style of teaching is unique, as is the man himself. Check out his Web-site for a different perspective on Martial Arts in general, and Tukong Moosul in particular. Master Hayes is an interesting paradox of an instructor, he is a no BS man that trains real hard, yet he has a soft and compassionate heart for all of his students and friends. As with each of the instructors in Tukong Moosul I am honored to consider him my friend
Ip Sun is a Korean version of the moving meditation known as Tai' Chi. The goals and benefits of this type of training are subtle and soft, like the movements themselves. Ip Sun is similar to and yet different than many of the other forms of Tai' Chi. Nearly all of the movements of Ip Sun are applicable self-defense moves. Ip Sun also works to restore the natural balance and harmony of a healthy body.
Master Vince Cobalis is the Senior Ip Sun Instructor in the Tukong Moosul Federation. Mr. Cobalis has been training for over 30 years in various martial arts and has been specializing in Tai' Chi for well over fifteen years. Mr. Cobalis may specialize in Ip Sun though he is widely recognized within the Tukong family as a serious hard stylist as well. Please check out his web site for more information about Ip Sun.
Master James Brown runs another incredibly fine Tukong Moosul Do-Jang in Austin Texas. Mr. Brown has been training in the martial arts for over 19 years and also has extensive college wrestling experience. Mr. Brown brings an enthusiasm to his training that is hard to match. Whether training students or dealing with concerns of his students Mr. Brown brings 100% of his heart and spirit into whatever he does. Mr. Brown is a powerful man with a heart of gold, he always pushes himself harder than he does his students; he truly demonstrates that actions speak louder than words. He is a gifted instructor, and a true gentle man. If you are ever in Austin please stop by and visit Mr. Brown's Do-Jang. Please call first to arrange an appointment
The University of Texas @ Austin, home of the original Tukong Moosul training offered in the United States. I am glad that we still have a club at UT. Brings back old memories of training down at Clarke field and destroying the grass, celebrating Tukong's aniversaries . Hmm pleasant memories indeed...
Riccardo Green is offering Tukong Moosul training in Seattle, WA. Riccardo was the first person I took from white belt through black belt. He is a very gifted martialist, and a compassionate young man. He has graduated from Bastyr Naturopathic and Acupuncture College in Seattle. Mr. Green is a very fine representative of Tukong Moosul and I am proud of him as a student and as an instructor. (Though I do wish he would return phone calls ;-) )
